The U. S. Mint may have had a better show than any of the dealers at the ANA in Los Angeles. The 2009 UHR has seen solid demand, even at the strong premiums that the Mint is charging. Modern Bullion was the most active area of the market. With considerable sales in generic U.S. Gold, primarily ten and twenty-dollar gold, dealers spent most of their bourse time in pursuit of gold. There are few series consistently active; demand is more specific by date and grade. Classic Silver and Gold Commemoratives remain soft and some of the most active buyers for high grade Lincoln Cents, Buffalo Nickels and Mercury Dimes have become sellers. Public attendance at the ANA convention was not as good as expected. However, dealers are staying optimistic and believe that the market is beginning to flatten out. Many dealers were buying coins at new Market levels, creating activity and a new sense of market reinforcement.
