This is the time that most astute dealers are taking advantage of the cheap premiums on U.S. Gold. The market for the most generic gold coins is about as soft as we can remember in many years. There are some market makers offering to sell Twenty Dollar Gold coins at slightly above the bullion content. This is a tremendous opportunity for dealers who have collectors with cash to spend. Collectors can make money when the price of gold increases and they can make a little more when the premiums move up as well. Some dealers are advising their customers that these are a much better buy than modern bullion coins at about the same premiums. The overall market is quite mixed right now as the two sides square off defending the attributes of the Mints modern issue bullion coins versus the older truly rare coins. There is much to be said on both sides with all the new collectors being introduced to numismatics through mint products. It is up to the dealer community to switch these new collectors into real numismatics. Currently Gold is $582.40 and Silver is $11.03. Platinum is $1115. -What's Hot?
