This is scheduled to be the largest Baltimore Coin Show in terms of dealer bourse tables since this show began. The promoters have a great location and they are capable of attracting thousands of dealers and collectors from many of the surrounding states. The show begins on Thursday but there will be dealers arriving as early as tomorrow to begin a very busy week. There is also a major auction conducted by Bowers and Merena that takes place on the 9th and 10th. It is filled with many superb rarities that are sure to attract advanced collectors. The market continues to be very aggressive for areas that dealers and collectors feel are still undervalued in today’s market. Typically, most numismatists look for coins that are not easily located and when found are sure to be priced at premiums. Most astute numismatists are exceedingly aware of the fact that 10-20% of the market is made up of common coins and these are the coins that are stagnant at this time. The balance of 80-90% of the coins are better to rare and not easily found at current levels. These rarer issues are the ones that most dealers feel will advance the most in the coming years. The metals have shown progress in the last week as Gold surpassed the $600 level once again. Gold is currently at $625.60 and Silver is $12.70. Platinum has been on the rise, although it is lower this morning at $1190. -What's Hot?
