Higher gold equates to a more active coin market, but it is not the only driving force. Rare coins are as active as ever and the amount of money available for rarities is plentiful. Astute collectors are acquiring properly graded rarities at a time when there appears to be no apparent competitive venue with numismatics. In spite of the Thanksgiving Holiday, the coin market continued extremely active with many dealers and collectors attending the Michigan State Show. Business was continually brisk for bullion related coins as well as better collector coins. Seated material seemed to be very strong as buyers are looking for anything that is slightly better and has some eye appeal for the grade. This weeks Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide has another round of price increases. In the Modern issues, the highest grades remain very popular with the Registry collectors. With a low census for ultimate grades, it does not take too many competitive collectors to advance prices to premiums of previous levels. The bullion related issues are higher again with this issue and it is best to check daily prices before making substantial commitments.
