Dealers are hopeful that the coin market will pick up after very light trading during this past holiday week. Many dealers took advantage of this time to spend it with their families. With the metals making a major move this morning it looks like many of the vacationers are back to buying and selling on the teletype systems. There continues to be very strong demand for highest graded Mint State Jefferson Nickels, Roosevelt Dimes, and Washington Quarters. Some increases are noted in this week’s Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide. However, we are not seeing many of these coins trading hands because they are not readily available. When dealers locate them or produce them through one of the grading services, the asking prices are generally higher. These are great coins for major auctions because thousands of collectors will have the opportunity to see them. The Summer FUN Convention takes place this week in West Palm Beach. Heritage Auction Galleries will conduct the official sale and is sure to attract aggressive bidding by dealers and collectors looking for new material.
