With back-to-back Major Shows it is difficult to expect too much from individual results. Charlotte was just okay for most dealers, but they expect more out of this week's Baltimore Show. Some dealers say this is like having twice the expenses but only one result that profits can be measured against. The market continues to be steady with hard work the main theme. The right material is difficult to locate at reasonable prices while just stuff is all over the place. This week's Wholesale Market Price Guide shows many increases as dealers are looking for specific issues to attract the attention of collectors. There are still a lot of buyers out there with millions of dollars to spend. Since metals have steadied for the time being, it looks like many collectors are searching for true rare coins once again. We see many increases in wholesale prices for Roosevelt Dimes in MS67 and MS68 this week. This is a popular area which does not receive a lot of notice much of the time. For Registry Collectors it is always the highest grades for which they search. In early Washington Quarters we found numerous increases for MS67 and MS68 specimens. We did find many downward adjustments for the more modern Washington Quarters in the highest grades. As more coins are certified at these grade levels, prices tend to fall as supplies outweigh demand. Modern issue bullion coins rose slightly as did the overall metals. Gold moved up this am to $653.70, while Silver climbed to $13.13. Platinum was $1224; make sure you check final prices before making any commitments.
