The Long Beach Coin Expo is upon us once again, September 10-12. This is normally the time of the year when the coin market begins to heat up, and dealers are looking forward to Long Beach because they always manage to do well whether the majority of their business is buying or selling. Dealers are counting on a good show since these past summer months have been quieter than usual. Market prices have been headed lower, although there are increases in various series. Heritage Auction Galleries will conduct the Long Beach Signature Sale from September 10-13. Common $10 and $20 U.S. Gold is steady to higher as reported in this week’s HD Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide. Demand is brisk for coins that have bullion value as well as collector value. With Gold currently around the $950 level, the Market price for common MS60 Saints is a minimum of $1,260. Twenty Liberties in MS60 are at least $1,240 for common dates. Some collectors are able to buy slightly better dates (coins with lower pops) at just a little more than the price of commons.
