The Baltimore ANA is just one week away and the anticipation is growing; dealers and collectors are preparing for what they expect to be a tremendous convention. Most dealers feel the summer has been somewhat slow mainly because collectors have been waiting for this annual landmark event. The ANA runs from July 29 to August 2 with a variety of educational events scheduled as well as the Heritage Signature Auctions. Heritage Galleries presents a wonderful assortment of major collections assembled by well-known numismatists who are ready to pass ownership on to other enthusiastic collectors. The following specialty collections include some of the most sought after coins in today’s market: Early Proof Sets, $20 Saint Gaudens, Large Cents, Early Half Dollars, and a set of Deep Mirror Prooflike Morgan Dollars. There are several other noteworthy collections included; together this auction is sure to attract most of the nation’s high-powered collectors. In this week’s LD Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide, we continue to report many advances in early coins from 1795 to the late 1800’s. Quality is still the key to this market and competition continues to drive prices to higher levels. Low census coins in the top three grades of most early series are as strong as they have ever been. Half Cents and Large Cents have a very strong collector base. When available coins are correctly graded and certified they bring premiums of current wholesale levels.
