This weeks Moderns Wholesale Market Dealer Price Guide is covered with declines. Since our last issue the metals are down at least 20% and the bullion related issues have dropped proportionately. Modern Eagles, both Gold and Silver have suffered heavy losses. The $5 Gold Commemoratives also show many declines although some of the better dates are still trading at previous reported wholesale prices. On the positive side, many dealers report there are many more buyers than sellers at this time. Collectors and investors are using this downturn as an opportunity to add to their holdings. There are numerous Modern Lincoln Cents that show determination and higher prices this week. Low census highest grades are still active and the rare issues are very strong. The 1955 Doubled Die Cent has several increases in AU55 through MS65 in all colors. The 1944 Steel Cent has increased in several grades as a result of the 1944 S that sold in the ANA Heritage Auction for over $370,000 in NGC MS66. Washington Quarters seem to be very plentiful and demand has decreased. Many issues in both Mint State and Proof are lower because there are more sellers than buyers in this current atmosphere. We feel this says a lot about the economy because many typical collectors have been forced to curtail their spending on n umismatics for the time being. As always, check current metals prices before confirming any transactions. See this E-News and past issues in E-News Archive: http://www.numismedia.com/market/enews/archive.shtml -What's Hot?
