We have definitely entered a new market for the time being. We are still seeing lots of money being spent by lots of different types of collectors. However, they are looking for very specific coins. We would still have to describe the coin market as hot but there are certain series that are commanding most of the interest. The areas where dealers have multiple coins in multiple grades and other dealers have the same kind of inventories are the series where discounts are required in order to create activity. Thus, the FMV is sure to adjust in the near future. It looks like collectors are demanding low census coins and they are willing to pay the prices asked. Rarity is the key at this point; so if you have a low mintage coin in inventory and other dealers don’t have the same coin there is a good chance you will be able to command a premium price. Now we are not speaking of modern issue so-called rarities, we mean good ole time rare coins. You know the ones the cowboys carried in their pockets in the old days. Early Gold is definitely on want lists but collectors want coins that are unadulterated; in other words not cleaned or damaged. There are several dealers who continually offer to purchase these coins and the market is very active. This week is beginning with lower metal prices as Gold is down to $614.90; Silver is $11.98, down $.35. Platinum is $1209. -What's Hot?
