After bursting through recent high water marks last week, the metals suddenly reversed and profit-taking was the next order of business. This is the time when those in the know reap tremendous benefits by creating major swings in the metals. Of course, when this occurs someone is on the other end losing previously gained profits. However, Gold and Platinum are still higher than they were last week at this time and Silver is down $.81 this morning at $12.14. The wild fluctuations in Silver create havoc for the FMV of the most common silver coins. Gold is currently at $627.10 and Platinum is $1113. Despite the suddenness of the direction in metals, the coin market remains very strong. The majority of collectors and economists feel the economy is not headed in a positive manner and coins are a quality option for future profits. This makes for a very exciting time in all of our lives. The wholesale coin market is virtually undaunted by the metals and most of the dealers we speak with who attend the major coin shows are extremely busy. Many of them are buying and selling to each other but eventually these coins are finding their way to the public. The collectors, advanced and novice are very enthusiastic about locating a large variety of numismatic coins. The search goes on and we see no letdown in sight. Central States takes place this week in Columbus, Ohio and the featured sale is conducted by Heritage Auction Galleries. You can bet this will be a very heavily attended auction whether it is in the auction room or over the Internet. -What's Hot?
