Here's another lovely original 1878-S dollar from the small group I recently acquired. Although not monster toners with A plus color -- these are nonetheless very attractive coins. This specimen is sharply struck throughout with frosty coruscating luster and wonderfully preserved surfaces. The obverse is covered in a harmonious blend of russet, pale lime, aquamarine, sky blue, lilac and salmon iridescence while the reverse displays aquamarine, turquoise, pale lime, lilac and plum hues.

This is the finest specimen from the small group of original toned 1878-S dollar I recently purchased. To begin with it is sharply struck throughout with rich creamy mint frost in abundance. The surfaces are exceedingly well preserved and this coin rests at the uppermost end of the assigned grade designation. The obverse is aglow with luminescent pale lemon, aquamarine, turquoise, lilac and plum hues with a touch of crimson at the periphery. The reverse displays salmon, pale lemon, aquamarine, turquoise, electric blue and slate iridescence over the entire surface. A beautiful premium quality example.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality and it is PQ+ all the way. This coin is fully struck with needle sharp definition throughout and wonderful frosty coruscating luster. The surfaces are very clean (particularly in light of the stated grade) and exhibit just a few tiny inconsequential abrasions, none of a serious or highly distracting nature. Another example of PCGS's current ultra strict grading, which is a bit too stringent at the moment in my opinion -- a sentiment shared today by many professionals who themselves possess strong grading skills.

Ex Battle Creek Collection. This is a premium quality coin that is boldly struck with radiant coruscating luster and surfaces that rest at the uppermost end of the grade designation. The reverse is completely engulfed in glowing luminescent toning comprised of forest green, burgundy, pink, magenta, lemon, lime, emerald, teal, azure and violet hues. Moreover, a distinct textile pattern is apparent in the field between the Eagle's left wing and the wreath. An altogether alluring coin with strong visual appeal and an ethereal, almost hypnotic quality about it. Or as the Fonz would say, cool-o-mundo.

A visually compelling coin and the quintessential Carson City DMPL dollar. It is sharply struck with a few grade limiting abrasions present on Liberty's chin with the balance of the coin being relatively mark-free. The dazzling brilliant fields are crystal clear and watery with ultra-deep reflectivity and snow white devices with a prominent (and highly desirable) halo effect around the eagle. An exceedingly flashy deep mirror black and white cameo prooflike -- what more is there to say?

Ex Battle Creek Collection. A beautiful premium quality coin that is boldly struck with blazing mint luster and surfaces that are much better preserved than the stated grade would indicate. This is a very high end specimen to be sure. The obverse is engulfed in beautiful rainbow hues comprised of forest green, burgundy, teal, violet, fuchsia, tangerine, lemon and pale blue-green iridescence while the reverse exhibits blinding white luster throughout. Very flashy with awesome eye appeal.

This coin is very boldly struck with wonderfully preserved surfaces that rest at the uppermost end of the assigned grade. The fields exhibit (atypical) ultra-deep watery reflectivity and the devices are well frosted accounting for a distinct cameo effect. The obverse is awash in glowing amber iridescence with a touch of aquamarine at the rim. A premium quality example with excellent visual appeal.

Ex Battle Creek Collection. Here's another example from this collection that was undergraded by NGC and is definitely a point better than the grade indicated on the insert. This coin is fully struck with sharp detail throughout. The vibrant surfaces are extremely clean and exhibit blazing frosty mint luster. The obverse is vividly toned beginning with neon emerald and fuchsia on the left side, which gives way to luminescent canary, apricot, tangerine, lemon and sky blue hues over the balance of the coin. The reverse is riveting blast white with a hint of lemon at the rim. A very flashy specimen with powerful visual appeal.

This is an altogether magnificent example of this particular date with engaging mint bag toning. The strike is unanimously bold and the scintilating luminous surfaces are quite clean. The obverse has been blessed with extraordinarily beautiful toning that's a veritable artists palette of brilliant burgundy, lime, teal, violet, magenta, lemon, lilac, sky blue, cinnamon, apricot and tangerine iridescence. The reverse is primarily blast white with a small crescent of bright ochre and aquamarine toning clinging to the lower rim. This is a breathtaking coin with very strong visual appeal.

Ex Battle Creek Collection. A thoroughly engaging coin with bright voluminous coruscating luster throughout along with a needle sharp strike. The surfaces are well preserved and fresh -- further enhanced by the prescence of beautiful original color. The obverse is a glowing palette of lemon, pale apple green and sky blue iridescence overall with vivid turquoise, lavender, crimson and tangering hues covering the upper right quadrant. The reverse is blast white with a hint of amber at the rim. Uncompromising quality and excellent eye appeal without the huge Battle Creek price tag attached.

Ex Battle Creek Collection. To begin with, this stunning coin is perched at the uppermost end of the grade designation and would not be out of place in a MS65 holder. Bright fresh mint brilliance throughout with surfaces free of significant distractions. The obverse is aglow with scintilating lemon and pale apple green luminescence overall and a bright colorful crescent comprised of brilliant turqouise, teal, violet, magenta and crimson hues while the reverse is blast white. A premium quality specimen with strong technical and visual attributes.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. Tremendous flash and awesome visual presence are but two of the characteristics that combine to form this superb gem Morgan dollar. Additionally, the strike is needle sharp throughout and the pristine surfaces have been meticulously preserved. Finally, the obverse fields are quite reflective and the devices are icy white providing the viewer with a most impressive black and white cameo effect. A common date to be sure -- but in an uncommon (and most eye appealing) state of preservation.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. Although graded MS64 DMPL this is one of the most eye appealing example of this scarce date that I can recall. It is boldly struck with very nice surfaces that exhibit just a smattering of small inconsequential abrasions. The crystal clear glassy fields exhibit ultra-deep reflectivity while the devices are abundantly coated with icy white mint frost providing an atypically (in regard to this date) strong cameo contrast. Very flashy with lots of pizzazz. I can assure you that you could search high and low and not find its equal in terms of sheer eye appeal for the date. Moreover, this is a genuinely scarce coin as evidenced by the fact that PCGS has certified just eighty-nine at this level with thirty-three graded higher.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. A strikingly beautiful gem example of this date, which can be quite difficult to locate with colorful toning. This specimen is sharply struck with glowing creamy mint luster and well preserved surfaces. The obverse is aglow with brilliant aquamarine, pale violet and apricot iridescence encompassing the entire surface while the reverse exhibits a light dusting of champagne patina. An altogether alluring coin with excellent visual appeal.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. An exquisite gem specimen with beautiful original mint bag toning. This awesome coin is fully stuck throughout with frosty cartwheel luster and pristine surfaces (that are fully deserving of its lofty grade and star designation). The obverse is immersed in luminescent turquoise, violet, crimson, tangerine, lemon, light lime, aquamarine and lilac hues. The reverse is awash in soft pale champagne/pink iridescence. An altogether gorgeous coin.

Here's a stunning coin that certainly deserves the STAR designation bestowed upon it by the graders at NGC. This lovely gem boasts truly scintilating mint luster that is at once sparkling and luminous. Moreover, the surfaces are exceptionally clean in light of the stated grade designation. However, it is the dazzling original toning that elevates this coin to an even higher level of desirability. The obverse is literally aglow with brilliant lemon, tangerine, fuchsia, violet, teal and emerald hues the culminate in deep burgundy luminescence. A thin crescent of peacock, crimson, aquamarine, lilac and amber iridescence adheres to a third of the periphery. A glowing premium quality jewel with wonderful visual prescence.

Wow, this psychedelic beauty is reminiscent of the fabulous Battle Creek dollars in regard to the sheer intensity and vibrancy of its spectacular coloration. It is sharply struck with well maintained surfaces that exhibit fewer imperfections than the grade would indicate. Having said that -- it is the wildly hued obverse toning that lifts this coin above the crowd. Crimson, emerald, teal, violet, fuchsia, tangerine and electrifying apricot set this coin ablaze in a kaleidoscope swirling rainbow iridescence. Moreover, this is an 1882-P -- a date you'd never expect to find with such exquisite toning. If you're building a date set of toned Morgan's this is the coin with which to fill the 1882 year slot. Over the course of thirty-four years buying and selling beautifully toned dollars -- I believe that this is the most gorgeous toned example of this issue that I have encountered.

At the very least this coin rests at the threshold of the next grade designation, but in my opinion is a legitimate candidate for crack out. It is fully struck with surfaces that rival those of the MS64 DMPL that follows. The fields are watery and clear with very deep mirrors and heavily frosted snow white devices that provide a striking cameo contrast. Tremendous flash and awesome visual appeal combined with the fact that this is truly a premium quality specimen equal exceptional value for the buyer of this coin. Moreover, ultra-deep mirror black and white cameo 1878-CC dollars are becoming extremely difficult to locate today.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. Now here is a tantalizingly beautiful early "S" mint Morgan dollar. It is very sharply struck throughout with wonderfully preserved luminescent satin surfaces. The obverse is aglow with striking original mint bag toning comprised of tangerine, violet, sky blue, turquoise, aquamarine, lemon, magenta and teal iridescence. The reverse is white overall with a trace of patination at the rim. A superb visually appealing gem in every respect with an extra helping of pizzazz.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. WOW, this is an absolutely striking coin -- the quintessential deep mirror prooflike Carson City silver dollar. To begin with it is fully struck with all of the design details present and sharply defined. The fragile mirror surfaces have been very well maintained and are on par with those of many other CC dollars I have seen in MS65 DMPL holders. The fields exhibit ultra deep glassy reflectivity and are sharply contrasted by snow white devices that provide a compelling cameo effect. Exceedingly bright mint brilliance combined with compelling black and white contrast equal monster visual appeal. A truly breathtaking deep mirror prooflike dollar with an abundance of pizzazz.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. This is a very cool toned gem deep mirror prooflike Carson City dollar. It is sharply struck throughout with well preserved surfaces. The fields exhibit very deep glassy reflectivity while the devices received an ample quotient of mint frost that provides a nice cameo contrast. It was really difficult to capture the color on this coin and I'm not 100% satisfied with our image so I'll try and paint a picture with words. The obverse displays shimmering aquamarine and turquoise iridescence overall with underlying hints of olive when rotated under a coin lamp while the reverse is brilliant white. Moreover, there is some textile pattern evident in the upper half. This is a coin that looks much better in person.

CAC approved with sticker denoting Premium Quality. Another coin that I strongly disagree with PCGS in regard to the grade (and a coin that I have resubmitted on more than one occasion and may do again in the near future). This specimen is sharply struck with very well preserved surfaces. The overdate is prominent with the lower loop of the six clearly visible. The fields are very reflective and fully deserving of the prooflike designation. And speaking of its prooflike status -- this is a very scarce coin in this state of preservation as evidenced by the fact that PCGS has certified only sixty at this level with thirty four higher.

This is a very impressive (and atypical) example of this date and here's why. The vast majority of deep mirror prooflike 1896-P dollars fall into the "brilliant" DMPL category, which means the fields are adequately mirrored but the devices provide no real contrast to speak of. This coin is the exception to the rule and is the most cameoed example of this date that I have ever seen. The fields are very deeply mirrored and the devices are well frosted providing a pronounced (nearly black and white) cameo effect. Moreover, this awesome coin is boldly struck with wonderfully preserved surfaces that reside at the upper end of the grade level. A premium quality deep mirror cameo prooflike specimen that has few if any peers. By the way, this coin is very scarce in this state of preservation as evidenced by the fact that PCGS has certified just one hundred nineteen coins at this level with a scant eleven graded higher.

This is a stunning dollar pedigreed on the holder to the Larry Shapiro collection. It is boldy struck and well preserved with ultra-deep mirror fields and richly frosted devices that provide a striking black and white cameo contrast. Very flashy with powerful visual appeal.

The quintessential deep mirror prooflike Carson City silver dollar with all the flash and eye appeal that one could hope for. Boldly struck with very well preserved surfaces. The dazzling fields are deeply mirrored and the devices are snowy white providing a stark black and white cameo contrast. From a technical quality and eye appeal perspective this coin is much nicer than many I've encountered in MS66 DMPL holders. If PCGS were not so brutally (and in opinion unrealistically) tough at the moment I'm confident that this coin would be graded higher. At the very least this gorgeous DMPL dollar is right at the top of the grade designation.
